Our Trip to Jaisalmer
Jaisalmer is a beautiful place with golden sand dunes and the wonderful Jaisalmer Fort. So we explored the City and sand dunes during our trip.First we explore the Jaisalmer Fort which is in the City and is the only Living Fort in India.
Almost 4000 people live inside the Fort and also work inside ,have shops, Restaurants ,Hotels inside the Fort.
There is a beautiful sunset point inside the Fort which also has a very old Canon
There are markets all around the Fort and Clothes and spice markets .It is very exciting to see so many colorful things all at one place around the Fort
We had delicious Fried rice and Momos at a place called Free Tibet inside the Fort.
Then we explored the famous Jain Temples inside the Fort
Another attraction is Patwon Ki Haveli and Baa Ri Haveli .
Patwon Ki Haveli was the Haveli of Guman Chand Patwa who worked for the King of Jaisalmer and he made 5 Havelis for his 5 Sons.
Lastly we explore Gadisar Lake which is a beautiful Lake with arches built inside the Lake very close to Jaisalmer Fort
Next we headed for the Desert Safari which has Camel Rides in the Dunes, watching the sunset in the Dunes and also some entertainment in the middle of the Desert.
Its magical to watch the sunset in the middle of the desert and then hear the traditional Rajasthani songs and tunes while sipping Tea.
We stayed in tents in the middle of desert . It is an experience you must have when in Jaisalmer. The tents are very basic but that’s the best you can expect in the middle of thar desert.
In the evening during our camp stay the camp arranges for traditional Music and dance and it’s a lovely experience to see women from villages who dress in their traditional attire perform for you.
They also serve you with their Rajasthani Thali for dinner and tea , snacks and drinks during the performance.
Overall a mesmerising experience camping in the desert , Camel rides , beautiful sunset in the sand dunes and exploring the huge Jaisalmer Fort - the only living fort in India .
