Our experiences in Pink City of India-Jaipur
It was my first trip to the famous Pink City of India-Jaipur and it just left me speechless.I never Imagined Jaipur has so many Places to see , tasty food joints and so many things to do in Jaipur even for Kids so my 2 year old Amaira was also very thrilled to visit this city.
We started by first visiting Albert Hall Museum which is in Ram Niwas Garden. It is the oldest Museum in Rajasthan and it's one of the most picturesque Museum from outside with a dramatic collection inside the Museum as well.
They have very unique collection like the Coin collection and 2300 year old Egyptian Mummy is also a highlight of the Museum.
Just at a 5 mins walking distance from Albert Hall Museum was Masala Chowk in Ram Niwas Garden ,which is one of the most popular places for Chats and fast food. It is a big food court with many varieties of Chat.
Next we saw the famous Birla Temple and offered our prayers. It is not too far from Ram Niwas Garden [about 3 kms distance] and very close to Moti Dungri Fort.
Finally we went to visit the most famous attraction of Jaipur-Hawa Mahal. This monumental structure is made of red and pink sandstones and it is an architechtural delight.
Hawa mahal was famous for its Jharokhas [ windows ] , for free circulation of air , its always cool inside and also the women of the kingdom could get a glimpse of the king of Jaipur through the Jharokhas of Hawa Mahal which was the purpose of Hawa Mahal .
Hawa Mahal is a very good place to watch a beautiful sunset in Jaipur.Next day we went to see the famous City Palace in Jaipur.
The City Palace has so much of history , paintings , collections of the Kingdom and a part of the Palace is still the residence of the current young king of Jaipur and his family.
City Palace has a big campus and it was made by scholar and astronomer Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. Next to City Palace is the famous Jantar Mantar, just a 5 mins walk from City Palace.
Jantar Mantar is a stone obeservatory to collect astronomical data.Maharaja Sawaii Jai Singh constructed 5 Jantar Mantars between 1724 and 1730. All the instruments are fully functional in the Jantar Mantar of Jaipur and time accuracy is 2 seconds to the time of your watch. Even today this is a Sceintific marvel.
Jantar Mantar of Jaipur has the largest Sundial in the world called Samrat Yantra.
We finally went to grab some lunch at the famous Chokhi Dhani Village which is a big attraction in Jaipur and a lively village in the evening. Because of Corona their evening Village theme and games was cancelled so we just had a nice lunch there to experience the local Cuisine in the resort of Chokhi Dhani.
The resort theme has the look and feel of a Rajasthani Village and some beautiful ducks were also spotted at Chokhi Dhani Resort which made Amaira really excited.
She looked like one Rajasthani Doll.
In Jaipur you have to visit the Main Market near Hawa Mahal for some local shopping experience.Jaipur is also known for Johari Bazaar ,India's largest Jewellery market.
We took some traditional Rajasthani outfits for Amaira.
Finally we visited the Patrika Gate which is another famous landmark in Jaipur.
After the Gate there is a big Park where kids do skating, there is horse riding and you can get some fantastic photos at Patrika Gate specially in the evening.
Next day it was Our fort day we decided to start with the most famous Amer Fort.
On the way to Amer Fort you will first cross the famous Jal Mahal.Like it's name it is in the middle of a Lake. Lots of birds flock on the Mahal.
Amer Fort is one of the Most famous Forts in India. It is also shown in the famous Movie Jodha Akbar, the entry scene of Hrithik Roshan on an elephant. If you reach here before 12 pm you can also take an elephant ride upto the Fort , we were late so we had to go by the Car only.Kids would love to see many elephants in the elephant village nearby as well.
Again the most famous part here is the Sheesh Mahal and there are some good views from the top of Amer Fort. The dining area where current King would invite his special guests is converted into a restaurant so you could dine there and admire the Kings photo gallery. But we did not like the food in that restaurant much.
Another Fort we explored was the Nahargarh Fort for the best views of Jaipur city specially during sunset.Since we did not have enough time we missed out on Jaigarh Fort, another popular Fort.
It is the best sunset experience we have had so far on our trip. There is a roof top cafe called Padao where they charge a small entry fee Rs 100 for tea , coffee some snacks and you get to see some spectacular views when the night lights start coming up after the sunset.
Our entire Stay was in ITC Rajputana in Jaipur, a lovely luxury hotel in the heart of the city.
Room was very clean , well sanitised and breakfast had many options. It cost us about Rs 8,000 per night with breakfast for 2 people and a baby.We were totally bowled over by Rajasthani hospitality and warm people all around.Truly a fantastic trip.
