It's within the city of Mumbai!Excited to know the place? It's Sanjay Gandhi National Park Mumbai Borivali. Sanjay Gandhi National park is spread around 103 sq.km protecting the flora and fauna in the heart of Mumbai surrounded by a population of 20 million people.Part of the Western Ghats biodiversity, forming roughly 20 per cent of Mumbai’s geographical area. SGNP provides home to more than 254 species of birds, 40 species of mammals,78 species of reptiles and amphibians,150 species of butterflies and over a staggering 1,300 species of plants. One can explore the same during the stay.
This residence of so many natural habitats should be on your list this winter , great camping spot ! Yes heard it right!
SGNP Camping area is located inside the national park 1.7km Approx , inside of the main entrance gate Special fenced Area with 5 to 6 tents inside national park so that you are safe from the animals during evening . Tents are well furnished with A/C and Non A/c as per your preference along with all the other basic facilities.
You can stay back at Camping site inside the park. It's would cost around Rs.800 to Rs.900 per person approx for each night.
During the stay one can enjoy the safari, a ride on mini train or can just choose to visit the lake and enjoy boating. You can also enjoy the trek to the Kanheri caves.
There is no online booking so you have to book the tickets at the sight, Booking is available inside the park at office, if you are lucky enough would get in one go. The tents are available for 24 hours and for meals you can carry your own or you can have inside the camping site which has small canteen which server authentic Maharashtrian cuisines like junkha bhakar, pittle, vada pav and so on.
Food is very subsidised and per meal it won't cost more than Rs 120 per person Approx.
There are certain rules to be followed at the time of stay.
1 ) No plastic
2 ) No loud Music
3 ) No littering out
4 ) No Smoking
7 ) No Booze
6 ) No leaving the Site post 8pm.
7 ) Follow Rules set by SGNP.
The place is maintained by forest rangers so If rule is been broke it is like breaking a law. So Be careful.
Right time to visit is during winters from October to February.
