How to Explore Aswan the Local way - My Experience by Adam Imam
Located about 899 km south from Cairo, Aswan is a serene Nile Valley destination where the Nile is more majestic than anywhere else, flowing through granite rocks, and round emerald islands covered in palm groves tropical plants and beautiful temples and monuments making it top destination to visit in Egypt.
My experience in the city of Nubians "ASWAN" After a day in Luxor our next destination was ASWAN, without having any idea about the city we where going to enter a new unknown world. Where Egyptians struggled with Nubians tribe and finally settled together peacefully. As compared to cairo and Luxor the temperature and weather of ASWAN was very torrid.
After a long 4hours journey from Luxor, when we stepped out from bus the heat wave scared everyone of us. But somehow we managed to reach our hostel "Ek Dolli".
Luckly it was having A.C rooms that helped us to survive there. The hostel was pretty cool and beautiful, with almost every facilities.
The food in the hostel was the best food I ate in my whole trip. They cooked foods which I really required other can pizza, burgers and all. The food in the hostel made the stay for me there the most special.
With the rooftop, it added shine to the gold. The scene from the top as mesmerizing.
The next day we visited some top places to visit in ASWAN.
1.Nubian museum
Inaugurated in 1997, the International Museum of Nubian, is dedicated to Nubian culture and civilization.
It took an hour to see the antique inside it. Starting from wall paintings, stones, sculpture, statues, weapons, jewelry and mummies.
The organised Nubian army. (Taking pictures inside museum is chargeable).
Some paintings and culture reminded me of our own culture back in India with many similarities.
With the big group it was difficult to listen the stories and information given by the guide. But the museum have written information at every antique that helped us to get information.
2.The Philae island and temple.
This was our second stop and this was my best experience as long as I've been on the trip.
Unlike the other destination where I felt lonely this place was made special for me because of my only friends khushi, mareim and divine. They stayed with me, had fun with me, posed with me and clicked pictures for me.
After spending an hour and 2 we left to for the most awaited time of the day. That was to SWIM on river Nile.
Swimming in river Nile was amazing. The water was chilling cold and so clean.
3.Nubian market.
The next day was off. So we decided to visit the local Nubian market to by souvenirs.
And what a experience it was.The market was full of colorfull and beautiful stuffs. I wanted to buy everything but I ended up with some keyrings, the Nubian tribe mask and wall hanging clothes. Thanks to ATTAR and BEDIER (the backpacking team members) who helped me to shop and bargain the price as low as possible. You can find many souvenirs, spices, clothes to buy from there as memory.
4.Interaction with Nubian culture
On the last night of ASWAN stay we went to a big 3 storey boat... Where I personally experienced something that I've never seen.. The time I spent there was one of the best time I spend with the backpacking group. Everyone at that night danced and had fun.
We danced and sang along with the Nubian tribe brothers. Who showed as the Nubian culture and dance moves. That was really memorable and fun to watch.
My complete experience in ASWAN was the best as I was able to mix with other backpackers very well and had fun with them and also ASWAN was the place where I made some very true friends, whom I know that they are gonna walk together for a long time
