This was our first ever Navratri celebration at its very home ground, Gujarat. We were pretty excited to shop for it because, hello, festivals are the biggest parties we Indians attend.

So most of us are from Delhi and quite unaware of the culture in Gujarat which is very vibrant and extravagant. Again; definition of an Indian festivities.

So we decided to shop for the celebration from Law Garden as this place was recommended by some of our local friends and they also told us how good the collection here is and how well we can bargain for it. And we being students, hopped on a cab and jumped to this place.

When we reach, we see such a crowd and we could literally read people’s faces that how excited they were. This kind of excitement I had seen mostly during Diwali.

So this place has shops (more like stalls) on both the sides of roads with very enthusiastic shopkeepers who kept trying to make the best out of their skills. Now most of us had pretty subtle choices and the clothes available there were sparkly and colourful and as we were told, that was it! That’s how Navratri is celebrated here so we looked for different stuff; Chaniya Choli and the Male Kediyu which is like a jacket paired with a dhoti. And we were also looking for jewellery to complete off our outfits.

To my surprise the junk jewellery here was very pocket-friendly and the girls in our group ended up buying almost a dozen pairs of earrings. Because, duh, pocket-friendly and so much variety!

They also bought Chaniya Cholis which were of very different kinds, there were Gota work, there were mirror works and even different designs.

Pretty fascinating and definitely gave the festive vibes. I, myself, bought a Kediyu-Dhoti set and the shopkeeper was generous enough to give me a good discount because “Bhaiya, Boni ka time hai.”

Overall, it was a great experience to shop at Law Garden and a bit overwhelming.

Now I’m really excited to explore the Gujarati culture more and dance my ass off, not that I know Garba but I can still try,
