The hotel reception (Mr. Ken) had insisted on obtaining the address of the guest despite already obtaining the identity of the person, contact number and payment. This is contravening the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) and the Hotel Licensing Act chap 27(1) attached below. And even to state that it was hotel policy, and he would decline to do the business, if this address was not given. This is utter rudeness! I declined, and left. 27.—(1) Subject to paragraph (2), the licensee must require every guest seeking accommodation in the hotel to furnish the following particulars before the guest occupies a room in the hotel:(a)the full name and nationality of the guest;(b)the identification number assigned to any identity card, passport or other travel or personal identification document belonging to the guest. Address is clearly not stated.
