A very old Shiv temple complex renovated , developed and maintained well. more detailed art works at ceiling added to understand divinity . Nandhi in front is lively. Thiripura sundari amman is so beautiful. Chanting of Panniru Thirumurai kept playing to listen always is adding devotees to concentrate in prayer and for a calmness to mind.

Sri Vedapureswarar Temple, is located at Puducherry and very close to Sri Varadaraja Perumal Temple,. Saint Ramalinga Swamigal had sung the glory of Lord Murugan of this temple. Moolavar :Sri Vedapureswarar; Ambal : Tripura Sundari; Sthala vriksham : Vanni; theertham : Bramha Theertham. There is a 7 tier Rajagopuram The temple was totally destructed by the invading French troops and earlier by Muslim invaders. Dewan Kandappa Mudaliar, with the help of public contributions, reconstructed the temple in 1788. The details of the demolition has been recorded in the diary of a chronicler of a period named Ananda Rangam Pillai. Joseph François Dupleix was one of the French Governor of Pondicherry and he had ordered the demolotion . The presiding deity in the temple is believed to have been migrated from the Samba Easwaran street to the temple during the later part of the 19th century. The temple is maintained and administered by Sri Vedapureeswarar Sri Varadaraja Perumal Devastanam under the Department of Hindu religious institutions and Wakf of the Government of Puducherry. There are shrines of Vinayaga and Muruga before the Mahamandap and the sanctum is guarded by Dwarapalas. The shrine of Tiripurasundari is located in the second precinct . There also shrines of Shani, Durga, Chandikeswara, Dakshninamurthy and Navagraha around the sanctum Must have darshan of this temple when visiting Pondicherry.
