Opened back in the 1700s, the Menagerie is a zoo in the heart of Paris, which is located within the Jardin des Plantes and has approximately 1800 different animals that includes mammals, birds, amphibians, insects, snakes, crocodiles, turtles and much more.

Paris has two Zoo Gardens. This one is the smaller one. Does not make it less charming though. If you have a little one and cannot afford a full day for the main zoo, but still are in the area and want to see some animals, this is perfect. No large animals lime elephants or giraffes, but what specimens they have seem happy. Tickets are not expensive either. There is also a park nearby, and a natural history museum to complete the day.

The entrance fee is not worth to pay regarding what is waiting for you inside the Garden. I believe they should not call it zoo because the species of animal is living there is a few. A few of areas were closed at that time and between the ones which were opened many of them were empty. In most of the cases the animals were sleeping or inside their shelter that we were not able to visit them or if there outside of the shelter they were so far from us. The mentioned points are obvious in the attached pictures. The ticket price was 13€ at that time. At the end i would like to say that do not go there even you are used to visit zoos wherever you go.

The animals' houses are beautiful, but not so big. Animals are gréât, as usual But it is still à zoo, and enclosure will never be big enough for wild animals

Many sections are closed :( sure still there is some interesting animals but... u better spend your time in the botanic garden which the zoo is located in.
