You will have a different understanding of Le Corbusier, even if you are an architect and have studies him for some while. You will get to know the man, much better ...

Built by Le Corbusier and his cousin Pierre Jeanneret, between 1923 and 1925, the La Roche and Jeanneret houses reflect the architecture of the 1920s and have been registered as listed monuments since 1996. Only the La Roche House is open to visitors. The originality of this House is that it unites a gallery of paintings and the apartments of the owner and collector, Raoul La Roche. The use of new construction materials allowed Le Corbusier to put into practice here what he would define as the “Five Points of a new architecture” featuring an open facade, open plan, long horizontal window, roof garden, and pilotis. The Jeanneret Villa houses the Le Corbusier Foundation offices as well as a library. The Foundation holds the greater part of of Le Corbusier's drawings, studies and original designs. The La Roche and Jeanneret Houses were put on the UNESCO World Heritage List in July 2016.

Interesting details around LeCorbusier's process and vision

This building is mostly amusing. It is interesting to see how convoluted medieval spaces (which I love) influenced this “prophet” of modernity. I would have wondered what it was like, had I not visited. I can see how he influenced our modern “architecture“. The latter statement should not be taken as a compliment. Superfluous beauty no longer enters into calculations while building residential and public places. The Corbusier exhibit at the Pompidou did not improve my opinion of him.
