Created by the Cardinal Richelieu in 1633, the Palais Royal and its gardens, just a short walk from the Louvre, housed royal families up until the Palace of Versailles was built. Prestigious and peaceful, the gardens are surrounded by a superb futuristic architecture with contemporary sculptures by Buren and Bury. The Colonnes de Buren were designed by artist Daniel Duren and are situated in the courtyard, near the garden and Ministry of Culture. The 260 black and white striped octagonal columns are definitely worth a visit and are one of the symbols of Paris

It's a great place to spend times with children as they will enjoy playing on the columns. Without children you won't spend as much time as you just take some pics and that's it. It looks good but don't calculate too much time for this attraction

Beautiful place to take a walk and enjoy the scenic architectural views and diversity of activities taking place that the space has to offer. Unforgettable experience indeed.

Quite an interesting outdoor artwork piece. I'm not sure if this is a permanent structure or i just happened to be passing by a temporary arrangement at the right time. I didn't have time to study each piece in detail but it was a series of paintings and photographs of people with a background made of 'handy craft' depicting different scenery such as 'on the farm' or 'out in space' or 'on a boat', etc. Hard to explain without a proper picture, but as someone who doesn't understand or appreciates art, i found it quite interesting to have such a display outdoors with the pictures lit from behind, which is quite stunning at night.

Old and modern mix very well. You just have to get a pic on one of the columns.

Very friendly, saw lots of kids playing in the pillars. The gardens are nice if you want to escape the crowd of Tuileries garden
