Description
In 1810, the column that we see today was placed in the centre of the place Vendôme. 44 metres high, it was dedicated to the soldiers of the battle of Austerlitz, inspired by Trajan's column in Rome. Cast in the bronze from 1200 cannons seized from the Russian and Austrian armies, it is decorated in classical style with bas reliefs representing trophies.

Rule of Thumb: If it's green, it's a Site! Check out the detail on the column. How amazing is it that hundreds of years ago someone built this and detailed it to tell a story and leave some history behind? Even if you're not into history, ponder that for a bit.
