The “seven-coloured earth” of Chamarel is a geological curiosity and a major tourist attraction of Mauritius. This is a small (?7500 m2) area of strikingly bare landscape showing well-developed rills and various shades of red, brown, grey, and purple. Curiously, it is located within a large, dense forest.

This is a must see if you're visiting Mauritius. Truly impressive. Better to see on a sunny day, the colours are more vibrant. Very well tended with friendly staff. Who are showing a lot of patience with impatient tourists. Oh, and the coffee is excellent.

Great place to visit with to see the 7 sands, waterfall & tortoises farm (heaviest on earth and you can touch & feed them) + super fun and amazing drive up the mountain to get here from the peninsula beaches/resorts. I highly recommend renting a local car for the day, so much to see nearby too

Meh. I'm a geography nerd and thought I'd absolutely love this place but we were largely underwhelmed. Yes, there's some quite colourful earth and, yes, it's relatively interesting how it was formed. But, unfortunately, we just found it a little over-hyped and wished in hindsight that we'd spent the time elsewhere on this beautiful island instead. The giant tortoise are interesting if you haven't seen them before. The nearby waterfall was stunning and it was good to see the coffee plantation too, so it was still worth the cost of the ticket price for these two things alone.

Quite Different from anything else I've seen anywhere. I saw 4 colours only though, but it's a nice place to hangout. Not too expensive aswell.

Great place, amazing coffee. Next to a coffee farm so the coffee was fresh. Went in the rain so could not see colours clearly
