La Preneuse is a public beach in western coast of the island Mauritius in the district of Rivière Noire located in the village of Black River. The beach is home to the best preserved Martello tower in Mauritius.

Mostly private villas, and a fairly small beach. Public parking space is very limited and is often blocked by the many boat tours (organized by the surrounding hotels and tour operators) that start and end here. Public toilets with showers available. Attention: strong currents at times

This use to be one of the most beautiful beach of the island. Now, due to poor environmental protection laws, the beach is slowly falling into the sea... Swimming there is still bliss but sadly the place lost most of its charm... Should you like to see a nice beach while in Mauritius, go to the Tamarin Public Beach instead!

Love this spot! We were walking distance away, so came to this beach about every day. Sandbags in the front, but just walk down 25m and there is lovely smooth sand and v calm waves. Visit the Martello Tower Museum located right at the convenient parking. A must visit on a weekend day/evening as it is full of local people picnicking, playing music, relaxing. Very chill and beautiful
