Gunner's Quoin (or Coin de Mire) is situated approximately 4.5 km offshore from the nearest village of Cap Malheureux in the north tip of the Mauritius mainland. Gunner's Quoin is the most western and southern islet of a group of islets situated to the north of Mauritius, known as the Northern Islets.

Great spot for diving. While staying at Sensimar Lagoon, I booked an excursion with the boat house. Water was clear and loads of fish.

Gunner's Quoin, is also known as Coin de Mire. It is located 8 km north of Mauritius coast line, off Cap Malheureux. It's very volcanic and ocean waves crashing on its northern face are spectacular and vey loud. In 1721 indigenous tortoise, rabbit, skink (reptile) were reported. Dutch settlers introduced deer, hare, goats, rats and even sugar plantation. You can still find remnants of that early settlement.
