Amazing place with a great view! Coffee is average at most, but you can get an espresso. I highly recommend trying the sugar cane juice which was awesome and not that sweet as I've expected.

If you have been to Mauritius and have not been to this place, have you ever been to Mauritius? If you wish to witness something out of this world, visiting the Chamarel Coloured Earth is an absolute must for you. This stupefying attraction has gained popularity over time because of the fact that it comprises of sand of seven different colors which is most definitely going to leave you perplexed and shocked at the same time. The colors are not very prominent because of the tropical climate of Mauritius but if you mix the colored earth, you will be able to see a remarkable difference. The predominant colors you notice include that of the red, black, purple and cyan. This can even be considered as one of the ideal places to visit in Mauritius for honeymoon.

Locals told me this would be underwhelming but I found it to be quite a nice scenic spot. The entrance gets you both to the 7 Coloured Earth (which includes a tortoise park) and to the Chamarel waterfall (the top view only, and you need to book a treck if you want to get to the bottom). Both offer nice views. You'll find facilities there including a small shop and coffee shop.

Unique place due to geological oddity. Stunning photos taken.

Please dont get me wrong from the star-rating. This is a beautiful location with lots of natural and geographic significance. In fact, I feel its so important, that it should be a national monument rather than a private tourist attraction. While the private group has done well to build and maintain the access, this should have been done by the government. I also feel that there is not enough information published on the site about its formation. Why is such coloured earth only seen over here, why did it get only exposed over here, what prevents it from mixing into each other, does it support any unique bio-diversity(flora, fauna, organisms), to what depth might this gradation in soil be going? etc. A similar monument in USA would be splattered with tens of displays of information, visitor centers etc.
