The Central Market brings two word to mind: super busy! But it is a GREAT way to experience Mauritius and a bit of the island life. You can find many things here: clothes, souvenirs, fresh fruits and vegetables, spices and so much more. Bargaining is acceptable practice here. Finding parking is a bit of a challenge as the market is located within the heart of Port Louis. The Waterfront is probably your best bet for finding a parking spot and then strolling over to the Market. A trip to Mauritius will not be complete without a visit to one of the markets on the island.

A beautiful and opulent market building, paying homage to the moving past of Port Louis. Still today, this is a lively and colourful place of aromas and choices, of cheerful people and happy voices. Of course it's old and in some places in disrepair, but it's a place of life happening.

Great market, lots of food and spices. Also souvenirs, handcraft. Lively place, don't forget to bargain when you want to buy souvenirs! There are some nice shops upstairs as well. Try some of the sugar cane juice!

Amazing tourist attraction. Old fashion and great bargain if you know where to look. They have an amazing milk drink, a must try.

What a great place. So many things to choose from. Couldn't fit so much in my suitcase. Different array of things in the stalls. Just walking there was fascinating.
