Description
A short, steep hike to the lip of a waterfall cascading 500 feet towards the south coast. Also known as Cascade des Galets. The views on a clear day are the best around. The trail is easy to follow and is not too physically challenging other than a short – 30-45 minute – ascent back to Alexandra Falls.

This trail (we did the medium level trail) is one of the best trails in the national park. We did especially like that it is a path through rainforests with many plants to see. It does go rather steep down on some points, so appropriate shoes are definitely recommended. This also the way back can be exhausting, especially during the hot and humid weather. This, also make sure to bring enough water and mosquito spray. The view at the end is amazing and one of the most wonderful places in Mauritius. To enter the trail, start by turning left (coming from the parking space) before entering the bridge to the viewpoint (see photos). There's also plenty of parking available, as it's the viewpoint parking space.
