Shani Maharaj Temple is dedicated to Lord Shanidev. He is considered as the personification of planet Saturn and is preached over here. The temple consists a large black stone idol of Shanidev; a trident is placed along the side of the image, and a Nandi image. And also small images of Shiva and Hanuman at the front. Only male devotees are allowed inside the temple. The devotees are only allowed to enter the temple premises after taking a bath and wearing the traditional white dhoti. Every day over 45,000 visitors visit the temple, and the number goes upto three lakh on amavatsaya. The village holds a fair in honour of the deity on amavatsaya as it is considered as an auspicious day to please Shani dev.

Awesome temple, you will also feel the beauty of the river close to it. The sound of the flowing water will amaze you. This is one of the great temple. Do a visit to this temple specially , apart from your other visit to the Kullu Manali.

The place is a pickbup point of private buses coming from Manali. The temple is has shade where you can stand in case of rains. It's just on the manali kullu highway, opposite to kullu town. There is a bridge to reach this side.

Shani Maharaj temple on a nice location. Currently very dusty due to four lane road construction.
