Believed to be built somewhere in the 12th century, Tulja Bhavani Temple is an important Hindu pilgrimage center in Maharashtra. It is said that any mention of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is incomplete without the mention of his tremendous faith in the goddess Tulja Bhavani. Not on Shivaji, many royal families were the firm believers of Tulja Bhavani. Besides, Tulja Bhavani is believed to be one of the ‘Shaktipeethas’ of Goddess Durga. Moreover, many royal families of Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Karnataka are firm believers of Tulja Bhavani.

Shree Tulja Bhavani Mata Temple in situated inside Pratapgad Fort. Because of Covid, Fort is closed. But you can park your vehicle between 1 to 2 km before fort and walk. If you are lucky you might get entry, as we got. Pratapgad ( प्रतापगड) literally 'Valour Fort' is a large fort located in Satara district, in the Western Indian state of Maharashtra. Significant as the site of the Battle of Pratapgad, the fort is now a popular tourist destination. Pratapgad fort is located 15 kilometres from Poladpur and 23 kilometres west of Mahabaleshwar, a popular hill station in the area. The fort stands 1,080 metres (3,540 ft) above sea level and is built on a spur which overlooks the road between the villages of Par and Kinesvar.

Much of the fortifications are still intact, and the fort is a popular tourist destination. There are four lakes within the fort, many of which overflow during the monsoons. There is a watchtower just beside the Mahadarwaza, or the main entrance, at the end of the motorable road. There is a statue of Shivaji Maharaj in his full glory, which was installed about 60 years ago. There is a Bhawani temple at the top of the fort, and a cultural library showcasing the heritage of the fort.

This temple is located inside the Pratapgad fort boundary. Said to be constructed by Shivaji Maharaj when he was unable to visit Bhavani Mata temple of Tuljapur.

The Temple is in Pratapgarh Fort and Sivaji Maharaj made this temple. Still Debi Bhavani is worshiped regularly. No Camera is allowed inside the main temple. There are some small cannons of the Shivaji era exhibited in the courtyard of the temple. The Temple is located at the halfway towards the top of the Fort.
