Description
The Monkey Point of Matheran is located in the state of Maharashtra. This unique destination overlooks beautiful scenery of the Western Ghats and its intimidating mountains and deep gorges. As the name suggests, this place is often frequented by gangs of monkeys. This destination also has abundant quantities of indigenous flora and fauna and makes up for an interesting way to learn about the local weather and vegetation. You can also experience the phenomenon of echoing here if you shout out into the mountains while facing the Hart Cliff. The Monkey Point houses a wide variety of local variants of monkeys and langurs, and you can spot them here quite easily. But beware! These monkeys can get aggressive at times, and you need to be very careful while navigating through this destination. It is advisable that you do not carry any food items or attention capturing articles with yourself at this place.

A very beautiful place Small garden full of playground for children. Fews monkeys are present scattered all over this place but don’t disturb tourists. They can be feeded but it’s illegal to do so. Snacks and cold drinks are served. Scenic view gives an awesome experience. There is no entry fees. Toilets are clean and chargeable @5₹ Best time for visiting is at dawn or dusk.

The view cannot be missed. You can see the beautiful valley and hills. Also visible is the Kune Waterfall and Mumbai Pune Expressway. I can literally spend hours here and not get bored. Entry is free for all. There are many monkeys around. You may feed them or simply admire them. A little ahead of Monkey Point is the Sunset Point. You have many food stalls selling corn, biscuits, Maggi, and other snacks. Try to visit near sunset time.

Awesome place. Ideal time to visit is in early morning, before sunrise. Enjoying sunrise with breakfast makes it a memorable experience.
