An excellent storehouse of tramways transportation system of old city of Calcutta. Lots of artifacts, models are kept inside enriching the knowledge regarding history of transportation system of this tricentennary city. Generally the place kept closed in Thursday, but during holidays the place gains the attendance of lots of visitors. Best place for a couple date, lots of chats between friends and enjoying nostalgia with hot coffee and snacks, for 45 minutes. Moreover the place is so photogenic that one cannot switch off his/her mobile camera, but digital camera is not allowed inside. According to my visiting experience, ideal time to visit is after the sunset, when the lights become more luminous, the place becomes more enchanting.

You can get a flavor of old Kolkata. Especially about Tram and related. Like how ticket and badges of tram of that time and also model tram. Inside the Smaranika we get informative images of tram as well as we have a good coffee. So you also can treat it as a mini cafe. But here time is limited (only 45 minutes) and till the time you can visit once a day.

Smaranika is a Tram Museum located at Esplanade area near gate number 6 of the metro station. This museum is basically a two compartment tram that houses a small museum in one of the compartments and the other one has a small cozy cafe. You just have to pay a price of Rs.10 and sit in the cafe for about an hour. They don't have a big variety of menu but some titbits at an absolute reasonable price.

Nice but was not as amazing as expected. You can go for it if it's on your way just for a 10min halt. But credit should be given to the maintenance staff. The place was maintained as neat and tidy as possible. There's a small snack bar in the tram museum where you can get a bite in the tram itself.
