Nakhoda Mosque is the biggest mosque in Kolkata. It was built by Abdar Rahim Osman, who was an inhabitant of Kutch. Built in an Indo-Saracenic architectural style, the prayer hall of the mosque can accommodate about 10,000 men at a time. The dome with minarets is a true work of art. Nakhoda Masjid is also regarded as the reproduction of Buland Darwaza located in Fatehpur Sikri. The granite stones that adorn the wall and flooring were brought from Tolepur. There is a long array of shops outside the mosque selling clothes, shoes, and attar, which is a special type of perfume.
