The General Post Office, Kolkata, is the central post office of the city of Kolkata, India, and the chief post office of West Bengal. The post-office handles most of the city's inbound and outbound mail and parcels. Situated in the B.B.D. Bagh area, the imposing structure of the GPO is one of the landmarks in the city.

An architecturally magnificent building. The first Fort William build by the British before the present Fort William. It has now been converted into the General Post Office (GPO). The GPO now functions as the central distributor of all mails for the city and nearby areas. The service offered by the post office is also highly commendable.

Very good place to visit as a tourist it's a cultural icon of kolkata it's carrying a history of kolkata. It's made my British East India company huge place, huge pillars you can take rest at the stairs its cool place it's government occupied place must visit if you are a tourist.

As a heritage site, GPO has a magnificent white dome that brings out the grandeur of this building. For best views, try taking a look at from the far end of Lal Dighi, where water reflects the Dome behind a treeline making it a picture perfect destination.

On 24th Jan20 My passport was sent through speed post. It was received on 27 th Jan20 in Baduria post office(743401). till today it is not delivered. Not receiving phone. will I ve to go to post office to collect it? Is this the purpose os speed post? This is what gov service!
