The M. P. Birla Planetarium in Kolkata, West Bengal, India, is an iconic structure whose architecture is based on the famous Buddhist Stupa at Sanchi. The planetarium opened its door on 29th September 1962 and was formally inaugurated on 2nd July 1963 by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the then Prime Minister of India.

Good planetarium. I watched cosmic collision show there. Show was good and we enjoyed a lot. Good place for kids. They give good information about our galaxy, stars and space. Good place to visit in kolkata of you have enough time. Show is 30 min long so if you have time, you can enjoy this

Amazing place to enhance the knowledge about the space. Well maintained surrounding and washrooms. They have shows at different time in different languages. Matter is explained very Nicly here. It well connected through metro and roadways.

A great place to spend time. Children can enjoy the show. Please check the show timings and the language before planning to visit here. This place is well maintained and the staff members are very patient and polite.
