Very nice place. Awesome for picnic parties as well as for family trips for a weekend. You will find lots of different types of animals and birds. Also name and description of each and every animal is written on a board and is attached to their cage. Place is really well maintained. I really really really liked the "cages" of both Royal Bengal Tiger and the Anaconda. The cage of Royal Bengal Tiger is ideal and perfect for The Famous breed. JUST ONE REQUEST TO WHOEVER IS READING THIS--- Please please please do not disturb any sleeping animals by tapping on their cages. Please do not make noises nor try to provoke them, to move around. If he is resting let him rest. Also please stop those "creatures" or so called humans who are acting like hooligans in front of the cage. REMEMBER YOU ARE VISITING A ZOO, NOT A CIRCUS

This is a very good place for a family outing. The Alipur Zoo is an iconic zoo established during the Colonial era at 1870. This is the oldest Zoo of Asia. The zoo is having many great species including some rare animals and birds including some endangered species. The zoo is the best place to go with your children during holidays to make them learn about some new animals and birds. My suggestion would be to book the tickets online to avoid the long queue for entry ticket. The rates of entry tickets are very nominal (Rs.30 for adults and Rs.10 for children). Your children will love the outing. December to February is the best time to visit. Overall it's a quite well maintained zoo. However, I would have given a 5* rating if the Zoo had a proper car parking and some good quality food courts, though there are many ice-cream counters. It is suggested to take your food with you. My request to the authorities to start a boat ride service in the lake and to start golf-car service for children and old people.

Totally amazing place. Beautifully laid out. The big cat enclosures are beautiful. Old fort like structures, so well blended in. We were lucky to see many of the animals out. The white tiger was pacing and had an eye contact moment. Amazing. He was taking objection to a set of people near the edge. The people too were great. Families with children, relaxing. No bad behavior. People picking up waste. It was really nice to see and a great experience.

Though it has lost its charm, from what I visited in my childhood to what I visited with my son. Still a nice open place to visit in winters with mellow sunshine. If you don't like crowd avoid weekends, holidays and plan for a weekday. No plastic allowed inside, not even your chips packet. Yes clicking wild is possible with a good zoom camera. I didn't take mine so had to be satisfied phone camera.

Great to see new animal, like wild dog roaming majestically. It is just charming to hear chirping of birds. After a long gap I visited this century old zoo. It was really made my day. The zoo is very clean. A perfect place to relax and enjoy.
