The Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park is located close to the Mehrangarh fort and, as you walk through it, you will see plants native only to Rajasthan as well as rocks and stones that are used in many different ways. There are four trails. Each of them have varying levels of difficulty as I understood it. For the price you pay, there is a huge opportunity to not only read about but also to actually see and touch flora and rocks that have many different uses. I was fortunate to meet Ranjer Denzil, a very knowledgeable gentleman who spent quite a bit of time explaining about the different rocks, their purposes and use. You can also learn about the efforts of the state to eradicate a plant that was brought in from foreign deserts and planted here, only to find out that the plant itself turned out to be a predatory plant of some sort. The state has gone to some length to eradicate the plant without destroying the rocks on which the plants grow. Definitely worth an hour or two to visit and learn about plants and rocks that are found in a desert like environment. More than anything, you will learn to appreciate water and not take it for granted!
