Chamunda Mataji Temple is located at the southern end of the Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur. The idol of Devi Chamunda Mataji was brought to the fort in the year 1460 by Rao Jodha as the goddess was his favourite. Devi Chamunda Mataji is a deity who is popularly worshiped even by the common people of Jodhpur.

The Chamunda Mata Devi temple is situated in the last corner of Mehrangarh fort. The devotees come here in large numbers and follow the goddess with utmost devotion. The blue houses of jodhpur are clearly visible from here and look stellar in the backdrop.

Chamunda Mataji was Rao Jodha’s favourite goddess and so her idol was bought to the Mehrangarh Fort. Thus, the fort became a place of worship and was turned into a temple. Since then, locals have followed the culture of worshipping Chamunda Mata. In fact, till date, the goddess remains the Isht Devi (the adopted goddess) of Maharajas and the royal family.
