Description
Tanot Rai Mata Mandir is a famous temple located in Jaisalmer. This temple lies near the border of India and Pakistan near Longewala. It is known as the sister temple to Hinglaj Mata and Karni Mata. During the Indo-Pak war of 1971, Pakistan's army dropped numerous bombs at the army base including this temple.

The temple is some 122 kilometres (76 mi) from the City of Jaisalmer, and it takes about two hours to reach by road. The area has a high average windspeed and as a result there are now a large number of wind-based renewable energy projects in the area. The road to Tanot is surrounded with miles and miles of sand dunes and sand mountains. The temperatures in the area can go up to 49 °C and ideal time to visit the place is from November to January.

Tanot Mata temple was in my wishlist! I wanted to visit and take darshanam of Mata Tanot Rai since I read about it in Wikipedia! During 1971 IndoPak War lot of bombs were thrown on the temple by Pak Army but not even single bomb exploded that's the power of Mata Tanot Rai! Now this temple is under BSF. Now BSF is looking after this Temple. Very much developed. The well shown in border movie is still there as it is. I just felt blessed by seeing at her! Jaisalmer to Tanot Mata Temple journey was awesome. Me, my wife and two cousins did this amazing journey which was top in the list of places to visit in and near Jaisalmer! Thanks to Mukeshji(Rajsthan Tour Cabs) who driven us safely to Kuchaman Haveli-Tanot Mata-Longwela Post-Sam Sand Dunes.

Jai Mata di ..jai tanotray ..... its place where you can trust on the positive energy that is called God .. its temple of godess tanot rai. how she helped Indian army during India Pakistan war. You will still take a view live bomb in temple premises which did not blast. it's amazing and religious place. If you believe in God than you must visit this place and if you are not believe in god than also you visit this place and once you will hear this temple story from local people than you will definitely believe in god. How godess tanot rai save the local people and BSF team. This is one of the rarest places where BSF is officially worshipping and the priest is also BSF person. This place is maintained by BSF team. Heads off to them ... again jai Mata di ..
