Jaisalmer Fort is made from golden-hued Jurassic sandstone, from a distance it looks like a golden sandcastle. That's why it is also called as Sonar Qila(Golden Fort). It is one of the largest living forts in the world. It is the most popular landmark in Jaisalmer City. It is the second oldest fort in the Rajasthan which was built in 1156 AD. Inside the Fort, you will find museums, temples, shops, etc. You can see the whole city from the top.

Best tourist placesin indiaand ispecially love it this place... Some intresting fact about it...Jaisalmer is known for the majestic Jaisalmer fort that fences the city. The most amazing thing about this fort is that it is a living urban center. The walls of this fort house approximately 3000 residents of Jaisalmer. It is lined with houses and temples and woven beautifully in narrow winding lanes. Scattered along the route are a large number of handicraft shops selling some exquisite traditional items, guesthouses, and restaurants serving mouthwatering Rajasthani cuisine. The entry to the fort is from the east, near Gopa chowk, and then you pass through four massive gates zigzagging your way to the upper section. The final gate opens to the Dashera Chowk, the square situated in the center.

It was nice experience as it was only fort in India where people live inside fort, You can also stay inside fort for 2 to 3 days during Jaisalmer visit as hotels, restaurants & shops were available inside. Ancient temples and some awesome architecture will give blissful experience. City view from the fort and Night time lightening in fort will give pleasent view as the fort was made up of yellow stone.
