One of the most ancient and celebrated religious buildings of Goa, this magnificent 16th century monument, constructed by the Roman Catholics under the Portuguese rule, is the largest church in Asia. The Cathedral is dedicated to St. Catherine of Alexandria on whose feast day in 1510 Alfonso Albuquerque defeated the Muslim army and took possession of the city of Goa. Hence it is also known as St. Catherine's' Cathedral and is bigger than any of the churches in Portugal itself. Also this place has a beautiful and scenic vibe.

Se Cathedral is set in beautiful grounds and is an imposing building. Inside, there is so much to see and admire. You could easily spend many hours here as there are so many interesting aspects to look at. Recommended.

Imposing, beautiful church - with amenities and greenery around. If the weather is nice - you can stroll around the campus and visit the other churches in the same compound, Plus stones kept from a gun foundry and ruins of a dilapidated church. Be warned - they stress on proper dressing so keep a shawl or scarf or something if you are wearing shorts or short skirt.

Reckoned as one of the largest churches in India, Se Cathedral is dedicated to Catherine of Alexandria. This church was built in order to revel the victory of Portuguese under a Muslim army, which led to the capture of the city of Goa. Since this triumph coincidentally happened on the feast of St. Catherine, the cathedral was dedicated to her. The construction of the chutrch began in 1562 and was completed in 1619. The church measures 250m in height and 181 in breadth. The highlight of the church is its “Golden Bell”, which is said to be one of the best bells in the world. On the main Altar, there are a few old paintings that are dedicated to Catherine of Alexandria. On the right, there is a chapel, which is also known as Cross of Miracles.

No lights no celebrations on Christmas eve. Highly disappointed by this. In the morning or day time. Its good to explore this church. Architecture of this church from inside is much more aesthetic.
