The site was the location of a fort built by Muslim ruler Adil Shah called Shahpura, whose name the Portuguese altered to Chapora. It is now become a popular tourist spot and offers a view north across the Chapora river to Pernem, south over Vagator and also far out to the Arabian Sea in the West.

There is small fee for parking there are some gift Shops and some cool drinks shop. If you are visiting at day time better take a bottle of water with you there isn't much shaded place on top. Fort sits on top of a hill there is steps that lead to it once reached on top the view is amazing

Nice scenic place. You will have to climb quite a few stairs and it can be really hot in the day time. The name really doesn't justify the place as there is no fort there, but you will be able to see a few wall structure and some random structures throughout. However, the view from the edges are amazing, be it sunrise or a sunset, the meet of ocean with the horizon is always a treat to watch.

I give 3 stars only because the stairs are not lit. It is mostly popular for sunsets and people like to stay a bit longer after that. Then is dark and only your phone torch can help you. At the same time the steps are not secured by rails so if you want to take the risk you can visit but remember falling is easy. There is a path taking you at the front of the hill with excellent views but you have to climb at one place over the wall. It actually is the best. Many refreshment outlets on the way up. It is not as steep as some people say. Give it a chance and arrive 1 hour before the sunset for full experience as the light gets quickly dimmed.

Small fort which is pretty much in ruins - hard to imagine what it looked like in its glory. But the views are pretty amazing. There is a small flight of stairs to reach - and there is a small group of shops at the bottom - where you can get stuff like coconut water after the trip.

Stunning sea view. Place open 24x7 but will recommend to visit early morning or at evening. Need to walk for 15min to reach fort. Make sure you carry sufficient water, it's must as walking will dehydrate you ! Parking space is available for cars (~Rs. 40 max) and bike. (Pay n Park)
