MG Marg is also the main market area of Gangtok. There are all sorts of shops here including souvenir & gift stores, clothing stores (for men & women), handicraft items, shoe shops, and even Pharmacies and convenience stores. Shops in MG Marg are open from 8am to 7pm. The market here is closed on Tuesdays.

The market area is beautiful and clean (try yourself to keep it that way if you happen to be there) with beautiful people and good vibes. You can get everything here that you may or will need during your stay at Gangtok. The embience is gorgeous and will make you feel like as if you are somewhere abroad and not in India. Cleanliness is taken care off particularly. And people and shopkeepers are patient with their attitude. Try and relax and chill through while being at all the different kind of cozy places to eat at. And also there are lots of places to enjoy live music, disco, clubs, pubs and bars on particular days. So chill and relax and try to match your vibes with the atmosphere while you absorb in the great feel, happiness and living 'life to the fullest' attitude of an amazing Nepali's culture of the Hills.

This is the main market in Sikkim. You have good bars and restaurants here. Shopping is great too.. Not very expensive. The liquor is cheap too.. Must visit place when in Gangtok.. Night life is great too

This is a Nice shopping street. No vehicles are allowed here. Throughout the MG (Mahatma Gandhi) Road there are benches in the centre. This street is wide and specious. Good time pass if your family members are shopping and you want rest or enjoy the view. There are variety of stores, from clothing to antiques, from cheap to costly, from general to branded. There are plenty of restaurants, bars etc. Saw some money exchange facility for foreigners. At one corner they have provided smoking zone. This is a hilly area and you have to climb down or up continuously but there are good stairs every where. However, when you reach MG Street the whole street is flat and at one level. This street connects to other markets, endless shops and shopping is the part of tourism here. I didn't find anything unusual to buy here, yes but the Budhha statues in different postures were very attractive, at the same time very expensive. This market can dig a big hole in your pocket. I preferred sitting in a corner watching Mahatma Gandhi's Statue facing me and the whole market behind him. This is a contradiction , the name of a man who believed in simple living was given to a shopping market full of shopaholics. Happy Shopping.

You have the stores of the best of brands over here and best of restaurants and bars as well. Locals a d tourist alike come here to spend the evenings and this place is well maintained and clean. There is no traffic in this road and can only be walked upon. There is a beautiful temple adjacent to this road. A lot of neatly placed benches are there for people to chill. Overall a nice place to visit. Gangtok can be really chill in winter months so please be well prepared. Keep clean, stay green and keep Gangtok clean
