The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI Darjeeling) was established in Darjeeling, India on 4 November 1954 to encourage mountaineering as an organized sport in India.The Mountaineering Institute also has a small zoological park that houses various species of Himalayan animals.The wildlife at the zoo keeps the excitement levels high for kids. Spot the rare Red Panda, Snow Leopard, Himalayan Deer and Black Bear. Among the birds, the majestic macaw is the biggest attraction.

One of the best institute of Mountaineering Courses in India. Offers quality education, skill deployment. I attended Basic mountaineering course here and my one month stay here was definitely the best memory of my lifetime till now. Great teachers, basecamp was beautiful. Can't say enough.

One of the best mountaineering institute in the world. Aspiring mountaineer's skill development centre. Another significant attraction is its museum. You will get to know the glorious, adventurous story of Indian mountaineers.

Nice place. Well maintained Zoo. One can see beautiful animals here. The mountaineering museum is also good. One can feel everything about the mountains and mountaineering here. Uniforms wore by Edmund Hillary and Tensing Norge for conquering Mount Everest are on display.

Nice place to visit. And there is a place for climbing so one could enjoy the climbing. Specially childrens will love the place for climbing. Even there is museum so one could gather a lots of information regarding mountain climbing and etc

Most important and educational place in Darjeeling. Full of information. Awesome musium. Interesting history. If you crazy about mountaineering then it's the only place for you.
