The Tamang family welcome you to our warm and friendly Happy Valley Homestay in the best location at Hooker Road in Darjeeling.The place got its name from Sir Joseph Dalton Hooker,who was one of the greatest British botanists and explorers of the 19th century.He would be the first European to collect plants in the Himalaya.From Kolkata he traveled by elephant to Mizapur,up to Ganges by boat to Siliguri and overland by pony to Darjeeling in 1848. We have all modern amenities in our home ,private rooms with western and Indian bathrooms including restaurant which serve different cuisine including local food. With us you can experience what is like to live with a real native family, and we will make your stay with us a truly memorable experience and hope you leave as our friends. Accessibility: The Homestay is away from the hustle bustle of the main town in pollution free environment,less than half a km from main taxi/bus stand in Darjeeling and located within walking distance to some of the main tourist destinations like,Happy valley tea garden.2minutes. The owner Mr.Subrat Tamang is a wonderful person and looks after his guests very well.I had booked the double bedded room with sofa bed for my family.The room was quite large, The sofa bed is also comfortable for sleeping.The bed sheets were very clean, the blankets were new and there was 24hours running hot and cold water in the bathroom.The towels provided we're clean and soap was provided. Breakfast was complementary and each day we were provided choice of items like veg sandwich,bread butter omlete,paratha sabsi and tea or coffee.The host even booked a car for sightseeing and my return journey to Siliguri.I would recommend this homestay for travellers who want to stay away from the hustle and bustle of Darjeeling town.

Well as a home stay it is immensely impressive. In fact it qualifies more than a home stay in a lot of different things like response rates, politeness and empathetic staffs tending to your every needs which you will fail to find a multi star hotel. Cleanliness is one thing should be the thing to be mostly emphasized. Beautiful clean rooms, bathrooms, bedsheets, towels, pillows etc. Bathrooms are absolutely clean with amneties like hot water. What I found mostly impressive is they had a ribbon on the commode which said germ protected for you and the toilet was cleaned to the every pore. If they had a restaurant then they would have qualified for a great hotel. The complimentary breakfast is also very tasty. All in all very happy with everything.

Amazing homestay with a friendly family. The rooms are neat and they have a good terrace with city view. The staff were very helpful. The price is also economical. Location is close to Happy Valley Tea Estate, Zoo and Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. The main market is also a 15 min walk away. The host Mr. & Mrs. Tamang were both welcoming and provided us good hospitality. Will ddefinitely recommend this for families and solo travellers. It's a safe place to halt.
