Located at the heart of Brussels, where between 1884 and 1914 the exhibitions of Les XX and La Libre Esthétique made the city one of the artistic capitals of the late nineteenth century, this museum is distinguished by its multidisciplinary nature, through a partnership formed with the Royal Library, the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie, the Royal Museums of Art and History, Cinematek, the Bibliotheca Wittockiana, the King Baudouin Foundation and the Brussels Capital Region for housing the Gillion Crowet collection, which is one of the museum's highlights.

A large and extensive collection of art from around the globe. If your looking for some heavy hitters of the old art world this is the place. It was interesting that as you worked through the museum you would find surprises along the way. One second you were looking at the work of an artist you never heard of only to turn around to find a Monet or Picasso mixed within the group. The cafes inside are also excellent and worth a stop.

Toddlers are not allowed: No buggies are allowed. No nappy bags are allowed. ( So we had to carry a toddler all the way out to the entrance for a nappy change, not then go back) No toddlers in the shoulders allowed. Of course, without the buggy after a while, the kid wants to be carried. No running is allowed. Our kid got shouted at for running a few steps next to a parent. No sitting on the floor is allowed, I was told by the security staff, that the kid was not allowed to sit on the floor and I had to carry him at waist height. Good encouraging the families to come here. If the collection is also disappointing for a national gallery, they must rely on locals. Bonus point: At the ticket desk I asked for a ticket to access everything, they sold me a ticket that said "all museums" but this did not allowed us into the temporary exhibition. Great waste of time and money for my family.
