The Church of Our Blessed Lady of the Sablon is a Roman Catholic church from the 15th century located in the Sablon/Zavel district in the historic centre of Brussels, which was patronised by the nobility and wealthy citizens of Brussels. It is characterised by its late Brabantine Gothic exterior and rich interior decoration including two Baroque chapels. The history of the church goes back to the early 13th century when Henry I (1165–1235), the Duke of Brabant, recognised the Noble Serment of Crossbowmen as a guild and granted them certain privileges, including the right to use a plot at the Sablon/Zavel (a piece of sandy clay land outside the city walls) as an exercise ground. Nearly a century later, in 1304, the Guild of the brothers and sisters of Saint John's Hospital (French: Hôpital Saint-Jean, Dutch: Sint-Jansgasthuis) ceded to the Crossbowmen's Guild an area adjacent to the Sablon where the Guild proceeded to build a modest chapel dedicated to Our Lady. This chapel became the chapel of the Crossbowmen's Guild.

Beautiful place, located in a very nice street. Definitely a place to visit. The exterior is the best part in my opinion. The stained glass windows are algo nice although not as much as some other churches. We were lucky enough to be there while someone was practicing with the organ.

This is of the most representative Gothic churches in Brussels. From the ceremonial point of view, the special celebrations after worth the participation. Live violin, singer and love classic organ are fascinating.

This was really an amazing cathedral, right there in the centre of Brussels. Considering that we weren't looking for for it, it was an amazing find. Very ornate and extremely well detailed. This house of worship is definitely worth your time.

Beautiful catholic church in the middle of Brussels city. You can enter the church as it is open to public. Well maintained and it was very peaceful inside the church.
