Wat Rachathiwat is said to have been founded before the Ayutthaya period. In the 18th century, due to its location on the banks of the Mae Nam Chao Phraya, it was still called Wat Samorai( AnchorStone Temple). Both King Puttha Yotfa Chulalok (Rama I) and King Phuttaloetla Naphalai (Rama II) were ordained monks here, as tradition required of kings.

The temple has very quiet and peaceful pier with nice view indeed. You get live fish from nearby market and free them at the pier. It's always a great merit to give lives to others.

Wat Rachathiwat or the temple of the king. This temple is also known as Samor Line which is Khmer name that means there’re plenty of rocks. The interested point that it couldn’t be missed is a painting inside the ordination hall. It was painted by intalian prof. C. Rigoli.
