Wat Pavaranivesh Vihara Ratchawarawihan Wat Bowon Niwet Wihan Ratchaworawihan, is a major Buddhist temple (wat) in Phra Nakhon district, Bangkok, Thailand. Being the residence of Nyanasamvara Suvaddhana; the late Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, it is the final resting place of two former kings of Chakri Dynasty; King Vajiravudh Rama VI and King Bhumibol Adulyadej Rama IX. The temple is a center of the Thammayut Nikaya order of Thai Theravada Buddhism, it is the shrine-hall of Phra Phuttha Chinnasi, a statue of the Buddha which dates to around 1357. Bowonniwet has been a major temple of patronage for the ruling Chakri dynasty. It is where many royal princes and kings studied and served their monkhood, including King Bhumibol and his son, the present king Vajiralongkorn.

One of the first temples I visited in Thailand and it was magnificent. That golden tower in the middle is so grand. I never had a chance to go inside the temple as I was wearing shorts during that time. I highly advise that you come properly dressed so as you have a chance to see the interior. This is to respect the place as people come to pray as well. No shorts and sandos which I assume the same rule for other temples based on what I saw from the notice around.

Stunning architecture both inside and out. The roof tiles and the dragons that guard the staircases look just great. This palace garden is wheelxaccessible from the left hand side as we look at the temple. A lot of seating available. Toilets and accessible toilets as well.

Stunning architecture, especially the roof tiles and the perimeter sculptures. You can walk the perimeter with your shoes, and I'd recommend it since the stone floor gets really hot. To enter you need to remove your footwear. There is also a dress code. Don't show too much skin.. shorts should be atleast till your knees. Photography is allowed as long as you are respectful and restrained. Accessibility: is tricky, very few ramps since it's difficult to accommodate it into the heritage architecture. Washrooms are available near the main temple.

One of the nicer temple complexes as it houses the dorms for the monks too so a bit of infrastructure hidden behind the temple with narrow streets. Just behind Khaosan road so you can escape the city inside. No fees and interesting interiors

This was the first Wat we visited and it was a good introduction because it was not crowded and we were able to take our time admiring the paintings.
