The Commons is the chic shopping mall on Thonglor Soi 17. Consider it the architectural opposite to all other shopping malls in the Thai capital. The Commons is the work of the architectural team behind the Department of Architecture.

This place is great, if you're looking for a good spot to knock a few drinks back and have plenty of options for good food. I make an effort to stop by every time I'm in Bangkok, and that's for good reason. The outdoor seating is awesome, It's a covered area with plenty of cool air coming from the colossal fan above, and if it's still too hot there's always the indoor seating that has air-con. In the evenings it's even possible to listen to some live music from local bands. Highly recommend this place, It's perfect for lounging around with a group of friends while you decide what you'd like to do later in the night.

In overall the COMMONS is a cozy place, but if you only come visit Bangkok for a few days, this may not be a good choice for you. There are many other better places serving good coffee and a lot more designed shops/goods in Bangkok. This is where suits for those who wants to spend half day with friends in a café. By the way, the COMMONS is very children-friendly, there is not only restaurants for children and even the toilet.

The COMMONS is what I would call a hipster place, given the vibes, industrial design and loads of amazing food options. Yet that would be doing a disservice to the place as it serves as a breathing space for the residents and locals in the area to gather and spend quality time together. The ample seating places are airy so you won't feel like you're baking in the Bangkok heat and has that communal feel, like you could share spaces and make friends with anyone. It's a place to hang out, chill, see and be seen. There aren't many shops and the F&B outlets far outnumber the non-F&B outlets. Roast, at the top floor is worth the travel to The COMMONS, though they have another outlet at Emquartier. Food wise I've only eaten at each outlet once so can't make much of a comparison but the decor at their outlet at The COMMONS is so much more chill and laid back, it reminds me of the cafes in Melbourne. Oh, yea... You do get some nice photos here too.

Cool spot, very American like. There's a bunch of different stalls, many of them offer alcohol and Western influenced foods. I would return if I'm in the area ever again.

Great place to go and eat/drink with your friends when you can't agree on where to go. They have all the foods -- infinite possibilities -- and live music too!
