This place is a perennial local favourite hang out. At the early start of the day this stall is filled with locals, chitchatting with the staff like old friends, which adds lots of local character to your food experience. By lunch hours until closing (at 16:30), the clientele tends to be mostly tourists. While the Slice of Life dissipates—the flavour of sumptuous noodles and toppings remains. When you order, you need to choose four things: (1) type of noodles (my favourite is pad Thai noodles, made silky fresh daily); (2) soup base (Clear Broth; Tom Yum or Dry); (3) toppings (choose from combinations of pork meat; minced pork; fish balls; and fish cake—I suggest choose All); then lastly (4) size (Small; Medium; Large). Large should be enough for one adult, but I highly suggest going for 2 to 3 bowls of small size instead so you can try a few different flavours. I love to end with a bowl of Tom Yum soup rice noodle as their soup is made from the broth as base with just a touch of mild Tom Yum spices without coconut milk. This place is as authentic as it gets and I hope it will never change.
