Junsuta, nicknamed Jay Fai for which the restaurant is named after, oversees the roaring charcoal-fired stoves daily, clad in her trademark black apron, beanie and ski goggles to protect her eyes from long hours in front of the intense heat. She started her roadside eatery in the 1980s and made a name for herself by procuring very high-quality seafood and transforming the ingredients into soulful dishes kissed with the smoky breath of her woks. Cuisine - Thai, Vegetarian Friendly. Approx cost for two people Rs 1,200.

Great experience as a tourist attraction, absolutely frustrating restaurant. Instructions on how to get on the waiting list is very unclear. We waited 2 hours on our 3rd visit to finally get seated. (A total of 7 hours wait since the second visit when we got there in the morning to put our name on the list.) We had the famous crab omelet and drunken noodles. The omelet was in fact special, huge chunks of fresh crab meat wrapped in crispy egg. It was delicious. The noodle was pretty good: very chewy, amazing texture. However, it was way too salty and the flavour is pretty commonplace. I also had the Chrysanthemum iced tea, which goes great with the meal. Overall, I'd say this is a fantastic experience as a tourist to visit the famous Micheline Star street food chef. Practically speaking, as an authentic Thai food venue, the food is pretty good, but it's unreasonably priced, and the wait time is totally not justifiable. A little tip: if you're not there when they call your number, they'll skip you and you have to take a new number ( meaning, you most likely won't get a table that day). To calculate approx. what time you need to get back to wait for your call, they serve approx 10 tables per hour and they start serving tables at 2pm. So if you're #50, I'd get there approximately when #40 is served, which is around 6pm ( 2pm+4 hours). Good luck!

Incredible meal at Jay Fai today. We booked in advance and we’re kindly greeted and taken to our table for the booking time. The Food is all cooked to order and with precision so there is a wait for the food to arrive. Sit back, sip beers and build hunger because the portions and absolutely massive. I have no clue why people have given bad reviews on this place and we’ll deserved Michelin star for relaxed casual eating.

After watching Street Food on Netflix we decided that we had to check out this spot. We arrived at 11am to reserve a spot for service that begins at 1:30pm. Many reviews claim that the restaurant serves 10 tables/hour but this is incorrect. I recommend staying near the restaurant within the first few hours of opening if you are one of the first 75 reservations. We thought we arrived at 6:30 but missed our reservation by 11 spots. If you miss your spot, you must sign up again. We then signed up for spot 137 and had to wait 3.5 hours before receiving a menu and another 1.5 hours before getting a table. Once seated, we received great service from the staff but we were exhausted. Jay Fai, cooks every meal alone so the wait is a bit long but the quality is well worth it. She cooks outside and perfumes the area with the fragrant ingredients. A large crowd gathered to both hear their number called but also watch this amazing woman but her heart into the food. I truly hope she has an apprentice.

This is quite the experience and needs some planning. We got a lot of info from Google so just giving back! We arrived at 11:30am and were already #40 on the walk-in queue. Based on some people's calculations of 10 walk-ins per hour starting from 2pm, we left and came back at 5:00pm. The queue was at #27, but within 10 minutes, it was #40. Each number is called twice and then you lose your spot on the queue. We got the menu, placed our order, and was told to wait until our food was ready to be seated. After 1.5 hours of watching people with reservations bypass us into the restaurant, we got in at 6:30pm. I liked the drunken noodles the most because the noodles were especially chewy, was accompanied by a perfectly spicy sauce and smokiness from Jay Fai's wok. The prawns were massive, fleshy and cooked to perfection! The crab curry was delicious; the amount of crab in this dish and the omelet were through the roof.

If you eat lots of Thai food, this place is a 3 starer. Sure it uses nice ingredients and there’s lots of crab in the omelette, but the flavor isn’t as good as Soei or other Thai restaurants. It feels like there would be a lot of wok(Smokey) flavors, but it’s missing! And definitely not worth the wait! But overall, nice customer experience.
