The Phya Thai Palace or Royal Phya Thai Palace is on the banks of the Samsen Canal on Rajavithee Road in the Ratchathewi District of Bangkok. Phaya Thai Palace is on Ratchawithi Road near the Victory Monument on the grounds of Phramongkutlao hospital. The Palace was a summer residence for King Rama V and built-in 1909. The area that surrounded the palace contained farmland and orchards. King Rama VI later renovated the palace as it is now.

Excellent place to visit and the Foundation has done much first class renovation inside and out over the past decade. BUT, no access to the Italianate garden - why!!? Guided tours only twice a day and only on Sat and Sun and most in Thai by a dull guide who spends for ever boring everyone outside the building. Better to go around yourself. You can access rooms on both floors.

Cafe is used to be reception(waiting) place for visitors of Thai King. Interesting interiors with quite OK coffees and sandwiches.
