The Indra Regent used to be the grand old dame of Bangkok hotels. I first went there in 1988 and have been back many times. Sometime in the last few years it must have changed owners. Gone is the bustling foyer. Gone is the brilliant outdoor buffet breakfast with staff everywhere ensuring everything was perfect. Gone are much of the lovely wood panels and carpet. Gone is the atmosphere. In it's place is a generic bland hotel which very few people seem to want to stay in. It's cheap but that's it's only selling point with very hard beds and a leaky slippery bathroom. I used to rave about this place. Now I can only recommend you don't go.

It might be old, but still my favourite hotel in the city. It is well situated for shopping. When you step out the front door, you walk into a very buys and well stocked market. In the walkways of the market you will find many things to buy. Nice clothing for cheap...if you can barter well. The rooms are well maintained and suitable for the short time you will spend in them. Under the hotel there are nice food stores where you can stock up on supplies. The Buffet breakfast at the hotel is very well prepared. The small pool is just right to relax in. So spoil yourself for a good stay here and spend the money you save on the outings you take away from the Hotel.

Worst experience ever! They charged 3000 Bhat allegedly blaming us for having created damage to one of the curtains in the room... it clearly appeared to be an old damage distinctly looked like a burn by ash or cigarette.... in spite of trying to make them understand 1000 times ... the management was adamant..... also same incident happened with another traveller from India.... the house keeping blamed them of having cut the curtain with scissors when asked to produce evidence for their allegation.. seemed like a conspiracy my house keeping and management Of the hotel... soft targets are Indians.... since you have no say!!! Ultimately we had to pay after 3 hours of argument ... since we had a flight back to India ...!! Wouldn’t recommend.... highly condemnable!!!!

We were told in an email that early check-in would be possible, as our flight landed at 7 am, but when we got there, we had to wait until 2 pm regardless. Breakfast is bad. Their orange juice is basically just sweetened water with some generic fruit taste, there's toast, but nothing other than butter and jam to put on it. Even their Asian dishes weren't very good. Rooms are clean and nice enough though. Large bed, large windows, nice enough bathroom. Wouldn't come back.

Attach with a complexes for those love to shop. Walking distance to night market. Convenient area with 24 hours shop. Easy excess by public transportation and foods to find nearby instead hotel itself. Old hotel but still interesting place to stay. Huge lobby at 4th floor. Very fast and efficient check in procedures arrange by super friendly staff. Breakfast at level 5. Not much of verity meals served. Choices of breakfast bit limited for international tourist but it still served good meals. Inexpensive and suitable for big group with its locations and budget.
