Chatuchak Weekend Market in Bangkok (locally known as JJ Market) was once only popular among wholesalers and traders, but it has now reached landmark status as a must-visit place for visitors to the Thai capital. The market’s sheer size and diverse collections of merchandise will bring any seasoned shoppers to their knees – it’s where you can literally ‘shop till you drop’. Chatuchak is home to more than 8,000 market stalls that are spread over more than 14 hectares. On a typical weekend, more than 200,000 visitors come here to sift through the goods on offer. Veteran shoppers would agree that just about everything is on sale here, although not all at the best bargain rates. But if you have one weekend in Bangkok, squeeze in a day trip to Chatuchak Weekend Market and you won’t be disappointed.

Crazy market! Get a map, because it’s easy to get lost. Something for everyone here. Pretty fair prices, and if you find the right store you will love it. There are both cheap things, and amazing stuff you can’t afford. Like a life-size horse made of scrap pieces of wood. Or a slab of rock made into a 8 foot long table.

This is huge market that would take a whole day or more to explore entirely. We were lucky to have a Saturday to visit since it is only open on the weekends. The sights, sounds, and smells lend to the excitement of exploring. Bring Baht (Thai currency) to make shopping easier. Be sure to try food and drink samples from vendors/shops as they all seemed happy to offer them to visitors.

Oh my god, what a HUGE market. This place is very big, we spend like 4-5 hours, we don’t even cover 50% of the place. The prices are very cheap compare to other markets, know your price first before you go here, you could go to asiatique and other night market to get the idea of the prices. I believe the price is very cheap so if you don’t have time to go check out other places, it is still fine. The markets has everything here, so just take your time and look around. The market gets even more crowded around the afternoon. Drink a lot of cold water or beer, beer is cheap but still overprice from the street vendor. My daughter love the coconut ice cream. Our plan is only to experience the market, we ended up buy so many stuff, and most of the stalls only accept cash. We all try the reflexology massage, it is very good and in the air-con Ed room which very relaxing and we feel recharge after the session. we also try Spanish food near district 8, they have a DJ in the booth. Last but not least, just relax and enjoy the market. There is always tomorrow.

As far as markets go, this was by far the largest and most diverse market we visited. A lot of the items are very popular among the other markets, but what we loved about this one was the used clothing section. SO many Levi’s jeans and used sneakers in mint condition. It was hard not to spend a lot of money here, but everything can be bargained down so don’t accept their first price! Also - we had the best pad Thai within the food section of the market. Don’t remember the name (idk if it even had one) but it’s in there somewhere. Look at the map! Highly recommend

Amazing market. A total mix of really cool clothes for different styles and at a good price. There's great vintage selection, handmade by local designers, super bright and colourful, and more clothes. The coconut icecream is very delicious. I recommend to go on Sat/Sun. Friday the main loop was open but not all the small stores indoors. Therefore you only get to see half the stuff on Friday.
