The Jewish Historical Museum is a beautiful, high-profile museum that occupies four monumental synagogue buildings in the middle of the Jewish Cultural Quarter. It provides a unique picture of past and present Dutch Jewish life in all its facets. The museum has an extensive collection of items ranging from paintings to films, and from utensils to 3D presentations. At any time there are also two temporary exhibitions on display. Inside the Jewish Historical Museum there is another unique attraction, especially for children: the JHM Children’s Museum.

The importance of centres like this one cannot be expressed in words. That the people who suffered be remembered and honoured is the very least we can do for them. I really like the interactive screens with the interviews and particularly the film clips from life in the Jewish quarter of Amsterdam back in the 1920s and 30s. Thank you to all the staff and volunteers and artists who make this place so special

Entrance to here is 17€, but includes entrance to Portuguese synagogue and Holocaust museum (or it's free with the Museumkaart). Museum has some great interactive exhibits and is very modern (probably the most modern of any museum I've been to in Amsterdam) it includes a free audio tour.

A small museum, but beautifully managed and the exhibition is first class. Definitely worth a visit!

Their children's museum is great! A nice balance of education and hands on activities. This was such a great surprise! A perfect activity for a rainy fall day.

Thoroughly enjoyed this museum. I think non-Jews would enjoy the religion section as it is very thorough and gives a great walkthrough of Judaism which can be pretty confusing to outsiders. Definitely an interesting way to spend an hour as a non-Dutch Jew.
