This memorial stands in tribute to Queen Wilhemina, who was the Queen of Netherlands during the Second World War. The equestrian sculpture is fairly simple and depicts a younger version of the queen on a leisurely ride, sitting aside on a sidesaddle. Nice enough and a bit of history to go with it. Not a must-see, but memorial is centrally located and easy to get to

This statue represents the Dutch WW2 queen Wilhelmina as a young horse rider. Her Daughter, Juliana, Chose the statue in 1962 when her mother recently died. The statue is made by Theresa van der Pant but not everyone liked the statue. There were fake threats that it would contain a bomb but eventually, as a protest of the 'ugly' statue, the people painted the horse in red and white zebra stripes. It was in the colours of the local football club, Ajax.
