Lovely little hotel smack bang in the middle of Damm Square. Close to the main train station and all the shopping areas.. Rooms are bright, modern and clean albeit a bit on the small side.. Staff are lovely and full of local knowledge.. Definitely the place to stay in Amsterdam

Spent a Sunday late afternoon eating, drinking and listening to good live music, not too loud so we still could talk normally. The venue was beautiful, like a calm haven in the absolute middle of town. The service was the best; professional, efficient and friendly.

It’s not a bad hotel, just not what I paid for. 230 euros per night. I was told room 501. The elevator has 4 floors only. I had to go back to front desk for clarification- seems an obvious thing to explain to a guest at check in. Got to my room- I paid for a king size bed with view and I get a view of a gravel roof and queen. The shower does not have full size towels. I had to go back to the front desk to ask for WiFi password (again; obvious opportunity at check in). Phone in my room would not dial to reception. Very overpriced and underwhelmed. I’m giving 2 stars because it is clean (however heat was off when I arrived and very cold). Feeling a bit like a red headed step child.

So we were on the 5th floor, which meant we went in the elevator to level 4 and then go up some super steep steps to get to 501 or 502. At first I thought this sucked because of the stairs, the view was of a roof and not the city as our booking said, no king bed like the booking said, a double bed in fact. But, omg the comfiest double bed ever, enemies foam mattress that made me feel like I was being hugged every night. I enjoyed the little room on the fifth floor. I would recommend this hotel, despite our 2am wake up call to the fire alarm.... pretty sure some idiot was smoking in their room.

My home in Amsterdam. For a +200 year old building I'm always impressed with the continuous modern renovations. The bar is magnificent and cozy as most everything in Amsterdam. No smoking.
