When the sun shines on Amsterdam you’re going to want to head to one of the best and brightest terraces in the city at Café Pieper. A gem in the popular Leidseplein area, the café is a self-styled ß-tapperijß-, which essentially means a pub serving a range of beers on tap. Inside you’ll find a historic space, rich in character and atmosphere. Dating back to 1665, the building features the original stained glass windows and is said to be one of the oldest brown cafés in the city. It’s the kind of place with a coating of sawdust on the floor, antiqye lampshades, a cosy fireplace, beer pumps dating from the nineteenth century, lots of elegant, dark polished wood and tankards glinting from the ceiling, which incidentally is on the low side so watch your head. Even the cash register is an artefact, a relic of another time. The bar stocks classic Dutch beers like La Chouffe and the citrusy Wieckse Witte and of course, there’s that smallish but indisputably lovely terrace overlooking one of Amsterdam’s most picturesque canals. If the weather behaves itself, there’s nothing nicer than sitting with a glass of wheat beer out by the water’s edge and watching the world go by. Bar, Cafe, Pub, Brew Pub, Dutch. Approx cost for two people Rs 1,200.

Charming place with the bartender who served us, made an effort in speaking any language, nice lighting, pub style with an underground bathroom. A cute little bar if you looking for some drinks. At this bar I had the first Heineken Ive liked.

Absolutely fantastic must-go Amsterdam experience. One of the very classic bruin-cafes (brown cafes, don't mix with coffee shops). The place was perfectly stale and had a fabulous atmosphere of the A'dam spirit. What more, it is not the tourist's main stream so it's never crowded and you can always see locals. The staff was also great, prices very good. STRONG RECOMMENDATION!

Nice vibe and good location. Had a decent selection of single malts, which was refreshing to see. Ran out of the good beer quite early into the night, so that was a bit disappointing. Still, we'd come back anytime

I arrived and requested a Cafe Americano and it was like being home in the Southern States of the USA. Carolus was cheerful, outgoing and extremely friendly to the customers that were present. The coffee was very good. Enjoyed a couple of cups of coffee and fine hospitality. A great time. I read many of the comments on Google Maps about rude service. I would say based on my few visits if they treated you rudely, you may have earned it by being rude.
