Authentic brown cafe bar. The real deal. Atmospheric. Good beers and friendly welcome and engaging bar tenders. Tucked away off a main road but worth searching out.

Established in 1624, Café Chris is the oldest operating bar in the Jordaan. Rumor has it Westertoren construction workers received their payments here. The famous painter, Rembrandt van Rijn, also lived in the area. He even had a studio nearby. Therefore, it is safe to suppose that he probably frequented the café, as well. Today, the interior is absolutely exquisite and full of character. The ceiling beams are beautifully engraved and the dark wood is stunning. Order an Amstel beer, grab a light snack and play a game of pool. Just relax and absorb the Dutch culture. Don't forget to check out the small bathrooms. Pub, Dutch, Bar, European. Approx cost for two people Rs 1,600

Perfect cafe to get away from the buzz. Great beer, lovely place and lovely ladies at the bar. We really enjoyed our evening!

Stopped in just for an overnight in Amsterdam. Brother-in-law recommended café Chris. Exceptional! Reminds me of a small village pub… Definitely go there!!

Amazing experience. You get a deep feeling of history together with a great social drinking experience. Phillip the barkeep is funny and great at figuring out how much to chat with each patron. If you like to chat, sit at the bar and chat with Phillip and the regulars.

Quaint little Spot, old fashioned but worth a drink in an old "brown cafe"
